My Wood Frame is squeaky, what should I do?

We're sorry to hear your frame is creaking. We understand a noisy frame can be an annoyance, even to the deepest of sleepers, so we're hopeful we can come up with a solution.

One thing to keep in mind is that, since the Wood Frame is an all-wood product, there is always a potential for squeaks and creaks, especially as the weather changes and the frame settles into place. Things like temperature and humidity can cause wood to swell or bow, which can contribute to the noise. Also, screws can gradually loosen with use, making the frame feel less sturdy or extra noisy.

We would definitely recommend making sure all the frame screws (not just the slat screws) are as tight as possible; if you no longer have the original tool that was sent with your frame you can use needle-nose pliers as an alternative.

While disassembling and reassembling the entire unit may be a bit extreme, redoing just the sections/joints that are noisy can potentially do the trick. Also, this may go without saying, but be sure to remove the mattress or any other weight on the frame before tightening the screws. Be sure the frame is level and firmly on the ground, too. If you want to disassemble and reassemble the whole frame just to be certain everything is tightened in place as it should be, here is a copy of the instructions.

Another thing to consider trying is readjusting the frame. It seems simple, but just slightly pushing or lifting the frame up and setting it back on the ground might help. I know sometimes if your refrigerator or fan is making a noise, tapping or moving it gently will make the sound go away, so the same principle applies to the frame. It's worth a go!
